Craig Dunston

A message on behalf of Chris Cradock:

As some of you may well know already, Craig Dunston passed away earlier today having succumbed to a brain tumour that he had been suffering from for the last 12 months. Craig was probably Ocean Colour Scene’s biggest fan having attended 154 gigs together with numerous Simon and Oscar acoustic gigs as well as countless Paul Weller gigs.

I first met Craig with his wife Tracey at a gig in Blackburn in 1998/9 and from there we developed a very close friendship together with my late wife Mary and my whole family which grew stronger as the years went by. Craig also became close to all the band members whilst I was manager, sharing their company in places such as Cork, Dublin, Manchester, London, etc. There are very few people in this world that I have looked up to and appreciated their company and Craig was definitely top of that list. A more genuine bloke you could not wish to meet or befriend, as always together with his lovely wife Tracey.

Craig battled through various illnesses which with the love and care of Tracey he battled and won until eventually the brain tumour which sadly took his life. My thoughts are with Tracey, his mother, his sister and the three nieces that he idolised, Tamara, Alex and Natasha.

It is hard to know what to say or do at times like this when you lose a person like Craig, but I know that he would agree with me in taking the words from a song ‘you get up and dance’.

God bless you Craig, rest in peace you hero.
